Early on, I realized the potential impact I could make within this incredible team. With a strong passion for technology, I sought ways to integrate it with medicine, aiming to enhance workflow efficiency and improve trial management. This initiative gave me the confidence and momentum to pursue other projects that would benefit our patients and the community.
In December 2023, I began working on an individual project that sought to understand the molecular testing landscape in Canada, which is crucial for clinical trial eligibility. Using RedCap, we developed a survey for Canadian oncologists and are now analyzing the data to generate actionable insights.
In May 2024, I had the privilege, along with fellow navigators Emmanuel and Rija, to present at one of the largest international cancer conferences in the world, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). This experience led to exciting discussions about integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into our CTN program. Additionally, in June, I was able to present our impact on the community locally, at the Schulich Oncology Research and Education Day.
Now, as a first-year medical student at the University of Ottawa, I am excited to continue these projects and embrace the evolving landscape of medicine and technology. These experiences have taught me the importance of adaptability, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation—qualities that will not only make me a better medical student but also shape me into a more well-rounded physician. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Hamm and this amazing group of individuals and cannot wait to see what we accomplish in the future!
