One of my primary roles has been contributing to a scoping review to examine the literature on barriers and interventions aimed at improving access to clinical trials. I am currently working on data extraction, where I am exploring the specific interventions that have proven effective in making clinical trials more accessible. It has been interesting to learn how these efforts have improved patient access, and I am eager to see how the findings from this review will guide future initiatives.
More recently, I am now serving as the Administrative Leader for the development of an Indigenous-specific pathway within the CTN program. Through our program, we have had patients self-identify as Indigenous, and realize there is a need for a culturally sensitive pathway to better support the Indigenous community. I am excited to work with this team, community partners, and researchers to bring this initiative to life, ensuring Indigenous patients are fully informed and respected throughout their clinical trial journeys.
My work with the CTN program has helped me develop a new perspective on healthcare, revealing the inequities in clinical trial access and has motivated me to contribute towards the creation of a more equitable healthcare system. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an amazing team, and I look forward to continuing to make a meaningful impact on patient lives!
