Meet Michael Touma

My name is Michael and I am a medical graduate from Australia. I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Windsor. I received my medical degree from the Griffith University School of Medicine and Dentistry. I joined the Clinical Trials Navigator (CTN) Program this year as a research associate.

Currently, the project I’m involved with is attempting to answer the question as to why some patients are more successfully enrolled onto clinical trials. By looking at patient and trial characteristics, the aim is to gain a better understanding as to what factors play a role into a successful enrollment onto a clinical trial. Potential barriers to enrollment including logistical, patient and institutional will be identified as well. By examining this information, the goal is to optimize a patient’s chances of having a successful enrollment.

Being a part of the Clinical Trials Navigator Program has been an amazing experience. Being able to see the difference that the program has made in patient’s lives has been very rewarding. Seeing how passionate the entire team is towards the program has been inspiring and I have learned a lot of valuable lessons in my short time.
